Panta ilish is a traditional food for the Bnagladeshi in Pohela Baishakh. The receipe of panta elish is so simple.

It needs Hilsa fish (ilish mass) and wet rice.

Panta means the wet rice which has been wet for more or less than 6 hours with pure water.

Normal tradition is to wet the rice in a pot made of soil that is soil pot (Matir Pattro)

Ilish is the best fish in Bangladesh not only in Bangladesh but also in many where else.

However, elish should be fried to eat with panta vat.
